Chief Scientific Officer | ReVision Implant
Laurens Goyvaerts

Laurens Goyvaerts is Chief Scientific Officer at ReVision Implant and PhD researcher at KU Leuven. Revision is developing a brain implant that aims to restore useful vision for blind people.

Unlike technologies that try to stimulate the retina or optic nerve, ReVision’s approach is designed to bypass the eye entirely and send visual information directly to the brain’s visual cortex. The goal is not to restore normal sight, but to give people useful visual information that could support orientation, mobility and independence.

In this Wednesday closing session, Laurens will share the technological and human story behind its work. Together with Jeroen Perk - who is blind -, FTI Leuven brings the perspective of someone for whom this type of technology is not just innovation, but a possible change in independence, identity, expectation and daily life.
