Geertrui Mieke De Ketelaere

AI Expert & Adj. Professor | Vlerick Business School
Geertrui Mieke De Ketelaere

Mieke De Ketelaere is one of Belgium’s leading voices on artificial intelligence, with more than 30 years of experience across technology, data, analytics and business. She is Adjunct Professor of Artificial Intelligence at Vlerick Business School and has held leadership roles in companies including IBM, Microsoft, SAP and SAS. As author of Wanted: Human AI Translators, she argues for a stronger bridge between technical expertise and human understanding.

At FTI Leuven 2026, Mieke opens the Wednesday health tech programme with a talk that cuts through the AI noise. She will explore both sides of the story: the enormous potential of AI in health technology, and the growing unease about what our dependence on AI does to our critical thinking, mental resilience and sense of human responsibility.

After her opening keynote, Mieke will also moderate the session 'Building AI That Doctors Use and Patients Trust'.
