Joke Soetaert
Patient Expert | MS-Liga Vlaanderen
Joke Soetaert is a midwife and patient expert with MS-Liga Vlaanderen. Through her work in hospital care and her own experience of living with multiple sclerosis, she knows healthcare from both sides: as a professional and as a patient.
She recently surveyed 93 people with MS about how they view the use of AI in their care and daily lives. The results reveal both enthusiasm and hesitation: many are already using AI, but questions around privacy, reliability and the loss of human contact remain.
In the Wednesday session ‘Building AI that doctors use and patients trust’, Joke joins icometrix founder Wim Van Hecke and neurologist Prof. Dr. Guy Nagels. She will bring the patient perspective to the conversation: when does AI genuinely help people with MS, what makes them trust it, and where should technology know its limits?
