Johan Neyts

Prof. Johan Neyts is Professor of Virology at KU Leuven and Head of the Laboratory of Virology, Antiviral Drug and Vaccine Research at the Rega Institute for Medical Research.
He is also involved in pandemic preparedness initiatives such as the Belgian VirusBank Platform, which supports research and readiness against viral threats. During the COVID-19 pandemic, Johan became one of Belgium’s most visible scientific voices on antiviral research and vaccine development.
In his Thursday session, he brings decades of virology expertise to one urgent question: how can we prepare better, faster and smarter for the next pandemic, not only in the lab, but across healthcare systems and society?
