What if technology could help a blind person see again?
Of course not like a sighted person, but in a way that still changes daily life and improves massively the comfort of the blind person?

That is what ReVision Implant is trying to do. Instead of repairing the eye or stimulating the retina, they created a system that bypasses the eye and optic nerve. A camera captures visual information, which is then translated into signals sent to an implant in the visual cortex of the brain.

The goal is not to restore normal sight. It is to create functional vision: enough visual information to help someone recognise shapes, understand space, navigate more independently or reconnect with parts of the visual world.

In this session, Laurens Goyvaerts shares the company's story together with Jeroen Perk, a person who is blind. Together, they will evaluate the innovation and give a rare in-depth view of what is to be blind and trying to help someone who is.
